Velapanthi>Poems>Loving, and wondering

Arabia

My heart was lost in this heartless city
Where the highway cut endlessly through desert towers
That stood soulless and dull in a dusty haze
Unenlivened by their shrouds of metal and mirror.

But in the city is an oasis
Of food courts and people and childrens play pens
I'd have liked iftar in a rich Bedouin tent
But I'll wait for you here in this plastic Ramadan.
