Velapanthi>Poems>Loving, and wondering

Bathing at the village

Voluptuous fair beauty
revealed and concealed
By the wet red petticoat
tied over your breast,

You wade through the lake,
Each fingertip leaving a wake.

The child of the village
has returned a woman -
Vermillion on the forehead,
the hair is untied.

The scented flower carpet
is romancing the wind,
The koel in the mangoes
is cooing in earnest.
